Moving to Dubai: Where Career Ambition, Tax Advantages and Quality of Life Converge

Over the past two decades Dubai has evolved into one of the most sought-after destinations for international professionals, entrepreneurs and families. Whether you face a corporate assignment in Downtown Dubai, plan to establish a company in one of the many free zones or are relocating your entire household to the United Arab Emirates: moving to Dubai demands precise logistics, familiarity with local customs regulations and a relocation partner who knows the Gulf region first-hand.

Corporate Logistics has been managing relocations to the UAE for many years: owner-managed, fully transparent and with a seamless door-to-door service. From the initial home survey in Europe to the last item unpacked in your new apartment in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or any of the other emirates.

Expat Life on the Gulf

Why International Professionals Choose the UAE

The United Arab Emirates combine what many expatriates look for in a single package: economic dynamism, personal safety and an international environment at the highest level. Approximately 85 per cent of Dubai’s population are expats, and an estimated 10,000 to 12,000 German-speaking residents call the city home. More than 800 German companies maintain offices across Dubai and the wider UAE, from automotive groups and engineering firms to consultancies and tech start-ups.

The tax framework ranks among the most attractive globally: there is zero personal income tax, no capital gains tax and no inheritance tax. Gross equals net. The corporate tax introduced in 2023 applies at 9 per cent only on profits exceeding AED 375,000, which remains low by international standards. Add to that world-class infrastructure, one of the best-connected airports on the planet and year-round sunshine.

German and international schools in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, an active expatriate community with regular networking events and a capable private healthcare system all ease the transition. For detailed visa and residence permit information, visit the official UAE Government portal.

The Process

From Europe to the Gulf: Your Relocation Step by Step

A move to the UAE is not a standard project. Strict import regulations, cultural considerations and the distance demand a specialist. Here is how we ensure your belongings arrive safely and on time.

01

Tailored Planning

In the initial meeting we establish the scope, timeline and special requirements. Which emirate is your destination? Do you need interim storage? Will the car come too? Based on this we build a bespoke plan with a detailed cost estimate.

02

Export Packing & Collection

Our team packs your belongings at home, paying close attention to UAE-specific requirements: the English-language packing list must match the container contents exactly, as Jebel Ali customs conduct random inspections. Timber crates are ISPM-15 treated as standard.

03

Sea or Air Freight & Customs

Your container sails to Jebel Ali or Port Rashid. Time-critical items travel by air freight to DXB airport. We manage the complete paperwork at both ends, including any 5% VAT levied on new goods upon import into the UAE.

04

Delivery & Set-Up

Our local crew delivers your goods into the apartment or villa, assembles furniture and removes all packing materials. Where needed we coordinate the delivery date with your landlord and the EJARI tenancy registration so the move and lease start align seamlessly.

Your Destination in the UAE

The Most Popular Locations for Your Fresh Start

The United Arab Emirates consist of seven emirates, each with a distinct character. From the glittering business hub of Dubai to the capital Abu Dhabi and up-and-coming destinations like Ras Al Khaimah: here is an overview of the key locations for your move to the UAE.

Dubai, the Cosmopolitan Business Hub

Dubai is the economic engine of the UAE and home to the largest international expat community. Popular residential areas such as Dubai Marina, Dubai Hills Estate, Creek Harbour and Jumeirah cater to diverse lifestyles, from high-rise living with ocean views to family villas with gardens. The German International School Dubai, a vibrant dining scene and the superbly connected DXB airport make the city especially attractive for professionals and families.

Abu Dhabi, the Federal Capital

Abu Dhabi pairs political significance with cultural richness. As the seat of government, numerous embassies and international organisations, the capital attracts diplomats, senior executives and energy-sector professionals in particular. Districts such as Saadiyat Island, Al Reem Island and Yas Island offer upscale living with short commutes. The Louvre Abu Dhabi and the Sheikh Zayed Mosque add cultural depth.

Sharjah, the Cultural Neighbour

Sharjah borders Dubai directly and offers noticeably lower rents while still providing access to its larger neighbour’s infrastructure. The emirate holds UNESCO Cultural Capital status and maintains a more conservative profile. For families on a moderate budget who work in Dubai, Sharjah is a compelling alternative worth considering.

Ajman, Compact and Affordable

The smallest emirate on the Arabian Gulf sits between Sharjah and Umm Al Quwain and stands out for its particularly low cost of living. Ajman provides a relaxed coastal lifestyle and is linked to Dubai via well-maintained motorways. For newcomers and young families who value affordability, Ajman is a destination well worth exploring.

Ras Al Khaimah, the Rising Star in the North

Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) has established itself in recent years as an attractive base for company formation and free-zone licensing. The emirate appeals with competitive licence fees, scenic surroundings between mountains and sea and a growing tourism offering. For entrepreneurs seeking a cost-efficient base in the UAE, RAK is a strong contender.

Al Ain, the Garden City Inland

Around 150 kilometres east of Abu Dhabi lies Al Ain, the fourth-largest city in the UAE. Known as the Garden City, it offers a greener urban landscape, a milder desert climate and a family-oriented atmosphere. Living costs sit noticeably below those of the coastal cities. Those who seek tranquillity and outdoor experiences on the edge of the Hajar Mountains will find Al Ain an unusual but rewarding place to live.

Why Us

Corporate Logistics: Your Specialist for Relocations to Dubai and the UAE

The UAE impose exacting standards on imported goods. English-language packing lists, ISPM-15-treated timber crates, restrictive rules on alcohol and medication: documentation errors quickly lead to costly port delays at Jebel Ali. We know these pitfalls and clear them for you. Throughout the process you deal directly with the company owner, not a call centre.

From packing at your home to customs clearance in both countries through to delivery in your new UAE apartment or villa: we manage the entire logistics chain. Vehicle shipping, piano transport and pet relocations are also part of our portfolio.

Our network within the International Association of Movers (IAM) gives us trusted partners at the ports of Jebel Ali and Port Rashid as well as in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and the northern emirates. ISO 9001 certification ensures that every move, whether 5 or 50 cubic metres, follows the same stringent quality standards.

FAQ

Key Questions About Moving to Dubai and the UAE

How long does shipping from Europe to Dubai take?
By sea freight you can expect a transit time of roughly three to four weeks from Northern European ports to Jebel Ali. Add a few days for customs clearance and last-mile delivery. For items you need straight away, a partial shipment by air freight arrives within about a week door to door.
Will I have to pay customs duty on my household goods?
Used personal belongings are generally duty-free provided you hold a valid UAE Residence Visa. New items attract a flat 5 per cent duty on the CIF value. An accurate, English-language packing list is mandatory. The import of pork products, certain medications and alcohol is subject to strict regulations in the UAE. We advise you in advance and prepare the complete documentation.
Can I import my car into Dubai?
Yes. The CIF value of the vehicle is subject to 5 per cent customs duty plus 5 per cent VAT. Once in the UAE the car must pass a technical inspection by the RTA (Road and Transport Authority) and be registered locally. The end-to-end process from shipping to registration typically takes seven to nine weeks. We manage the entire procedure including coordination with the customs broker on the ground.
What do I need to bring my dog or cat to the UAE?
Your pet will need an ISO microchip, an up-to-date vaccination record including rabies, an official veterinary health certificate and an import permit from the Ministry of Climate Change & Environment (MOCCAE). The permit application is processed online. We guide you through the entire process, from paperwork to booking the animal transport.
Do you work with companies only, or also with private individuals?
Both. We manage corporate assignments for multinational employers as well as private relocations for individuals, couples and families. Whether you are setting up a free-zone company, leveraging the Golden Visa as an investor or retiring in Dubai: the scope of service adapts to your situation, from a compact lift van to a full 40-foot container.
